While this represents a significant challenge,
it also creates an opportunity to reimagine
the landscape, growing a more diverse and
inclusive nuclear workforce for the future.
To do this, the Charter and the Skills Plan
are structured on four key themes:
1. Collaborate across the sector
Across the entire nuclear value chain, the
sector needs to proactively collaborate
and send clear demand signals on the
opportunities available. Establishing
Regional Hubs will help the sector work
more effectively to identify the unique skills
challenges and opportunities by geography
and create the step-changes needed to
get the right talent into the sector.
On a national level, the first ever joint
campaign has been launched through
Destination Nuclear, which brings together

chain, and academia, to attract and recruit
the talent the UK needs. This national
initiative is an essential single source of
information and truth that can help dispel
myths about the sector and connect talent
to the right opportunities for them.
2. Invest in the existing workforce
Retaining the skills the sector currently
has is essential, and building a sense of
community, excitement, and opportunities
for growth will play a pivotal role in achieving
this. Part of what’s required is optimising
the training landscape and working on the
regional level to do this effectively.
